You Decide. I Design.
Hello my crochet friends!
I've decided to do something new. I want you to help me come up with one of my next crochet desings,
Here's how it works:
At each phase of the design process I am going to ask you a one question with 3 - 5 multiple choice answers. You cast our vote in the comments below.
Voting on each phase will last for one week. I will then tally up the votes and then either ask another round of questions or perform the necessary work.
When the project is completely finished, I will have it tested, provide you with the PDF for free, and then host a crochet-along (CAL) showing how to crochet the design.
Now, there is one catch.
In order to receive the free PDF and join in the CAL you have to:

B - Cardigan is the winner!!!
WEEK 4
VOTING IS CLOSED
Okay so we are crocheting a Fall Cardigan! Now, I have a ton of ideas running through my mind and I am loving all your suggestions. I think in order to narrow down the style of our Fall Cardigan I need to know this question:
What length should our cardigan be?
A. Short (hem falling somewhere between between the belly button and the hips)
B. Medium (hem falling somewhere between between the hips and the knees)
C. Long (hem falling somewhere between between the knees and the ankles)
This an important question because I am not sure all cardigan styles look good at all lengths and some cannot be done unless they are a specific length, so I think length is a determining factor in the design path our cardigan will take.

VOTING IS CLOSED
Okay so we are crocheting a Fall Medium-length Cardigan! So, I've narrowed it down to 3 design ideas. Keep in mind that the pictures below are just EXAMPLES. The final cardigan will NOT look EXACTLY like these photos. These photos are simply main IDEAS, are for INSPIRATION only, and are subject to change throughout the design process.
What EXAMPLE cardigans below would you like the design to most be like?

NOTE: To avoid Copyright Infringement issues I may remove photos after the voting period.

A - Basic cardigan with options is the winner!!!
WEEK 6
VOTING IS CLOSED
Okay so we are crocheting a Fall Medium-length Basic Cardigan with options for hood, pockets, etc.
Now it's time to pick our color(s)! Since this is a fall cardi, I have picked a few color schemes. I will do my absolute best to find yarn within the chosen color palette with as little variation as possible, but do keep in mind it will depend on what I can find. Right now, I am just trying to get a general IDEA of what we want.
What color palette for our cardigan would you most prefer?

NOTE: We have not decided on the number of colors used yet - that is coming. Right now I just want to get a general color scheme in mind.

A - Autumn colors is the winner!
WEEK 7
VOTING IS CLOSED
Okay so we are crocheting a Fall Medium-length Basic Cardigan with options for hood, pockets, etc. in autumn colors.
Now I am basically trying to figure out the general pattern style so I know how many yarn colors to order.
Remember: The photos below are just EXAMPLES. The final cardigan will NOT look EXACTLY like these photos. These photos are simply main IDEAS, are for INSPIRATION only, and are subject to change throughout the design process.
What design idea (plus corresponding color amounts) would you most prefer?

NOTE: Please remember that there are literally hundreds of ways to do color block (B) and stripes (C) -- there can even be color block patterns that look like stripes. So, if either of these are the winner, the final product may look very different from what you see here. Again, I am trying to narrow down a general style so I know how many colors of yarn to order.
CAST YOUR VOTE IN COMMENTS BELOW: Please write - Week 7 and provide the letter/word(s) of your choice.

Week 7 - B 2-3 colors
Hi Kim,
Thank you so much for taking the time to vote! I have written down your choice.
Sincerely,

I am definitely NOT into color blocks. Stripes are okay, but I tend to use a variable colors yarn to give color "excitement", so I really don't have a preference
Hi Debbie,
Thanks for your message. No preference is totally okay too.
Sincere thanks,
RaeLynn
Week 7- A- solid color,

Week 7 - I can't decide. I like both A - Solid pattern and 1 color and C - Stripes - 3 or more colors
Hi Donna,
Both are good choices! I have noted your thoughts. Thank you for coming to vote!

Week #7
A - solid, 1 colour
I’ve gone with this because it’s easier for folks to add their own extra colours than it is for them to take colours away! (It’s cheaper too!)
Oh, and because I look (even) wide(r) in stripes, and (even) short(er) in colour blocks, but let’s not mention that, huh? 😉
Hi Kathlyn,
You are absolutely right - not about looking wider and shorter in color blocks 😉 but about the fact that people can easily add colors if they want and yes - one color is definitely cheaper! LOL
Thanks so much for voting - I have written down your choice.
Best,
RaeLynn

I like style B. That gives the maker the opportunity to use many colors and design it with their own personality. I personally love jewel tones or black, white and grey.
Hi Julie,
I love color, but I very rarely wear it. LOL. So for me personally, I would go for the black, white, and gray, but would love to "look" at ones in jewel tones. I have noted your choice and appreciate you taking the time to vote. 🙂
Best wishes,
RaeLynn
